Dental Veneers
What is a Veneer?
A veneer is a thin decorative covering. Dental veneers can be made of porcelain or composite bonding and are thin surfaces that are applied over the top of an existing tooth to greatly improve discoloured, chipped, broken, gapped, or misaligned teeth. They are a popular method used in cosmetic dentistry but also serve to protect the natural tooth from further damage.
If you have gaps between your teeth, discolouration, misshapen, or a chipped tooth, a veneer will provide an effective, timely solution towards achieving a brighter, straighter smile.
Composite Bonding or Porcelain Veneers
Composite Bonding
Composite bonding is a cosmetic dental procedure that uses tooth-coloured composite resin to repair or enhance teeth. This technique is ideal for addressing issues like chips, cracks, gaps, and discolouration, providing a quick and aesthetically pleasing solution.
The procedure is typically completed in a single visit. After assessing your dental health, your dentist prepares the affected tooth and applies an etching solution for a strong bond.
The composite resin is then applied, shaped, and polished to achieve a natural appearance. With proper care, bonded teeth can last several years, making composite bonding a convenient and cost-effective option for improving your smile.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers require a more involved process, typically spanning two appointments.
After assessing your dental health, we will take impressions of your teeth, which are then sent to a dental laboratory for custom fabrication.
This meticulous process ensures that each porcelain veneer is crafted to perfection, providing an exceptional fit and appearance.
Once your veneers are ready, we will cement them securely over your teeth, enhancing your smile while ensuring a durable and natural look.
This attention to detail and commitment to quality means that porcelain veneers can significantly improve your smile and boost your confidence.

How long will a veneer last?
You can expect your veneer to last for around 10 years with proper care. One of the major benefits is that if any issues arise, they can be quickly and easily addressed.
As with any dental work, the longevity of your veneer will be extended if you maintain a daily oral health routine, along with regular check-ups from an oral health therapist. Our Oral Health Therapists will provide you with clear instructions on how to properly care for your veneers, ensuring they remain in excellent condition for years to come.
